Snapchat is a Social Media application, and social media apps nowadays have no shortage of emoji indicators, whether it is Instagram, Whatsapp, or TikTok. Green Dot is one of the most commonly used emoji Indicators on Social Media platforms. 

However, the meaning of the green dot on all platforms is different, and as we all use multiple social media platforms in our lives it’s easy to get confused. 

On Snapchat, the green dot simply appears next to someone’s profile icon when they are active on the app. The green dot doesn’t suggest that the user is viewing your messages, chat, or story, it simply indicates that they are online. 

The time the green dot can stay on Snapchat can vary as it is not entirely accurate. The green dot will not immediately disappear when a user closes the app, often it can take three to five minutes. 

If the user was recently online for example 22 min ago, then the green time will show up in a gray color with a timer next to it suggesting that the user was last online for example 1h ago. The timer does not stay forever, as 24 hours pass the green dot will fully disappear.

If you wish to hide the green dot, you can simply turn off the activity indication by following the steps below: 

• Step 1: Open the Snapchat app, and tap on your profile. 
• Step 2: Tap on settings, and scroll down to Privacy Control.
• Step 3: Next, tap on Activity Indicator” and toggle it off.

The green dot on Snapchat simply indicates that the user is active at the moment. However, the green dot is not fully accurate as it can stay green for 3 minutes to 5 minutes even after the user goes off.
